Digital Twin for Deformation Inspection
Service: CAD Model from Point Cloud Data, Inspection for Wall Deformation
Location: KEK Kosovo
Time: March 2021 - May 2021
Project Overview
Description:
We processed point cloud data to create an accurate and optimized 3D CAD model for deformation inspection. The project focused on analyzing wall deformation of a 65-meter-high furnace by comparing the existing conditions with the Detailed Design CAD model using SOLIDWORKS.
Scope of Work:
1. Point Cloud Data Processing:
Processed the captured point cloud data representing the existing condition of the furnace.
Converted the point cloud data into a parametric 3D CAD model optimized for use in SOLIDWORKS.
2. Model Accuracy and Deformation Inspection:
Maintained high accuracy, with the point cloud representing the existing conditions within a tolerance of ±1 mm and the 3D CAD model within ±5 mm.
Verified model accuracy by comparing cross-sections at 50 cm intervals throughout the height of the 65-meter furnace.
Performed deformation analysis by comparing the Detailed Design CAD model with the As-Built CAD model created from the scanned data.
Analyzed deviations at consistent 50 cm cross-section intervals to identify and measure wall deformation.
Key Outcomes
High-Precision Model: Developed an accurate 3D CAD model with controlled tolerances, providing reliable data for further engineering analysis.
Detailed Deformation Analysis: Compared the Detailed Design CAD model with the As-Built conditions to identify and measure deformation of the furnace walls.
Improved Inspection Accuracy: Used consistent 50 cm cross-section intervals throughout the furnace height, providing a structured method for deformation detection and analysis.
By delivering an accurate As-Built 3D CAD model of the furnace, we provided VPC GROUP with reliable digital data for detailed deformation inspection and engineering assessment. The comparison between the Detailed Design and As-Built models provided a clear representation of the existing conditions and a reliable foundation for future maintenance planning, inspections, and technical analysis.
